1970 AWA PROGRAM - WINDHAM NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
This August 22, 1970 AWA program from Milwaukee, WI (contributed to the Bar-B-Que by George South) featured Big Bob Windham on the cover and an article inside recognizing him as Rookie of the Year. But the cover photo was from three years earlier!
"I had been wrestling 3 years when Verne came up with this," Blackjack told us. "Typical Gagne! That photo was actually made in 1967. What a clean looking babyface!"
The other photos in the program were from 1970, including an a battle which foreshadowed a persona Blackjack would assume a few years later, Bob Windham battling Black Jack Lanza.
